Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a new optical wireless LAN (local area network) system based on a vision chip. The features of the proposed system are 1) free from bulky mechanical parts, 2) cheap plastic lenses can be used for the optical system, and 3) good programmability based on software image processing such as node detection and tracing. The vision chip designed for optical wireless LAN has two modes:high-speed focused readout for communication and normal image readout. With a device simulator, we estimated photo-responsibilities for several photodiodes with different structures using a 0.8μm BiCMOS process. Based on the simulation results, the vision chip with 8x8 pixels using a high-speed photodiode was designed.
