Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Radio-over-fiber(ROF) techniques with Fabry-Perot(FP) lasers have been expected for wireless communication infrastructures as cost-effective solutions. We have been investigated mode partition noise (MPN), which is a unique disadvantage to FP lasers. In this paper, we show that MPN degrades the performance of spectrum mask and dynamic range severely and limits the operating of ROF systems for IMT-2000. It is also shown that a technique of inserting an optical isolator is efficient for suppressing the effects of MPN and possible transmission distance to meet the 3GPP standards can be extended drastically.
