Abstract(in English) | Two-dimensional (2-D) erbium (Er) -doped image fiber amplifiers (EDIFA's) were fabricated for the first time. The measured gain characteristics confirm its applicability of optical amplifiers to 2-D high-throughput parallel optical data links and optical computing. Additionally, we discuss pumping method for the EDIFA's. Issues to realize higher-gain EDIFA are addressed. |
