Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To use EDFAs efficiently in the optical transmission, it is desirable to clarify parameters which specify characteristics of EDF itself. However, it is difficult to measure the parameters of EDF in an EDFA module including additional optical devices. In this paper, we propose a new method to calculate the gain of EDFA modules and evaluate the characteristics of EDFA in amplification of WDM signals. The calculated results shows fine agreement with measured results, so the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed. For RF/digital hybrid WDM system which transmit signals with different modulation format simultaneously, the range of input optical power into EDFA is clarified in order to satisfy the transmission qualities required for all signals, by using this proposed method.
