Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we propose the use of Manchester signaling for the embedded transmission (ET) method where the transmission bits are embedded in the weighted positions of signature sequences used in optical code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. To use Manchester signaling, the chips are composed of two slots, and an optical pulse is transmitted in either slot, according to a bit transmitted in the weighted positions. In the receiver, the threshold detection of the transmitted bits reduces the effect of multiple access interference (MAI) into the erasure state that is not defined as the transmitted signaling. By using codeword of the BCH codes as the transmitted bits, the effect of MAI is removed in the decoding procedure of BCH codes. Since the effect of MAI is procedure as the erasure bits, the proposed method can remove the effect of MAI more than the method processing as the error bits. In addition, using extended BCH(eBCH) codes allows us to remove effect of MAI more efficiently. We analyze the bit error rate (BER) of the proposed method, assuming that the photodetector outputs follow the Poisson distribution. The numerical results show that the system using the ET method with Manchester signaling achieves better BER performance than that without Manchester signaling. |
