Abstract(in English) Protection on the ATM-PON (ATM based Passive Optical Network) system is discussed in the FSAN (Full Service Access Networks)/ITU-T now. in the ATM-PON system, one PON interface accommodates plural subscribers, so increases of reliability by duplicating of PON section is desired. This paper gives considers of the architectures or features of protection on the PON section. Moreover collaboration with DBA (Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation) function that bandwidth of protection side is used for expandable bandwidth for DBA, is also considered.
