Abstract(in English) We describe the conditions for measuring nonlinear refractive index n_2 of various single-mode fibers utilizing a cw-SPM method.We theoretically clarify that the appropriate measurement condition is determined by using the required accuracy and dynamic range of the measurement system.We also show that the optimum fiber length and minimum input power of a dispersion compensating fiber can be approximated as a function of the absolute chromatic dispersion value.Moreover, our experimental results show that the measurement accuracy of n_2 strongly depends on the fiber length and wavelength difference of the input lights in a 1.3 μm zero-dispersion fiber and a dispersion compensating fiber.
