Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To improve the spectral efficiency in 40Gb/s WDM transmission systems over 0.4[bit/s/Hz], which is the highest value ever reported, we have investigated to apply the polarization multiplexing and demultiplexing method to 40Gb/s WDM transmission systems. In this paper, we report the wavelength/polarization demultiplexer, which we developed to achieve the high spectral efficiency of 0.8[bit/s/Hz], the influence of polarization mode dispersion in the transmission fiber, and the 6.4Tb/s(160 x 40Gb/s)WDM transmission experiment using full wavelength regopns of C- & L-bands.
