Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have successfully demonstrated 1.28Tbit/s (128×10.66Gbit/s) WDM transmission over 1680km standard SMF with a 120km optical repeater spacing. The use of dual-band distributed Raman amplification resulted in Q-factors of 11.8dB or larger, which represents a maximum improvement of 2.4dB compared to transmission without DRA. This enables error free transmission if forward error correction is employed. We also found that DRA does not cause a Q-factor penalty when comparing transmission results with and without DRA at same OSNR levels.
