Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) 40-Gbit/s/ch wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is an attractive technique to increase overall transmission capacity toward future terabit/s networks. However, in this case, a precise dispersion management and a guaranty of sufficient power margin for each 40-Gbit/s channel are essential to realize such high capacity WDM system. FEC is a promising technique to increase the power margin. On the other hand, we have proposed CS-RZ code that has high tolerance against degradation induced by fiber nonlinearity. Technical reports using the code have started to increase. In this paper, we propose AWG dispersion slope compensator based on space-time conversion. Then we explain some experimental evaluation of the compensator. And we describe successful wide-band WDM transmission experiment using a combination of the compensator and CS-RZ code.
