Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The clock signal degradation due to cross-phase modulation (XPM) is serious problem in high-bit-rate WDM systems. In this paper, the XPM-induced jitter is experimentally evaluated in a WDM transmission. We show that XPM-induced jitter is a systematic jitter and accumulates in proportion to the number of linear repeaters. The XPM-induced jitter can be suppressed by increasing the channel spacing and precisely optimizing the residual dispersion of each channel.
