Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to construct optical access networks economically, mid span access capability of the optical cable for the networks will be more important. In Japan, the demand of the SZ-slotted core structure is increasing in several applications because of its easy mid span access operating. We have developed new downsized SZ-slotted core cable family including IF (Induction-Free) structure, FR (Flame-Retardant) structure and water blocking structure. Therefore, the conventional helical slotted core cables can be replaced by these new SZ-slotted core cables. Developing the IF type of SZ-slotted core cable with FRP strength member, we have found out that the torsional rigidity of cables is important parameter to get excellent transmission characteristics. We have achieved to manufacture new SZ-slotted core cable family that has good cable characteristics and advantages of easy mid span access operating.
