Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We employ a uni-traveling-carrier waveguide photodiode(UTC-WGPD)to construct a fiber-radio remote base station without a millimeter-wave amplifier. BER characteristics of the fiber-radio system don't degrade when the UTC-WGPD is used even at a high optical input level of 10 dBm. We achieved error-free transmission of BPSK data over a 20-km standard fiber and a distance of 1 m without a millimeter-wave amplifier in the base station. It is proved that the fiber-radio system using the UTC-WGPD is capable of wireless transmission over a distance of 60 m in free space.
