Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this work, we demonstrated the multicast routing of 10 Gb/s original signal at wavelength granularity in WDM networks by the 4×4 optical cross-connect (OXC) node employing semiconductor-optical-amplifier (SOA) wavelength-converter between a pair of wavelength routers. The wavelength conversion was induced by the cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a SOA, by mixing multiple continuous wave (CW) probe lights with a modulated signal light. The signal quality based on the Q-factor was evaluated both for the signal output light to reuse the original signal and the probe output lights which contain reproduced signal information. Furthermore, we also demonstrated the routing from multi-inputs to mono-output in the OXC, by adirionally using electroabsorption (EA)-modulator wavelength-converters based on cross-absorption modulation (XAM). These new routing functions in the WDM-OXC node provide asymmetric traffic flows without color collision which will be dominant in the growing data traffics, instead of symmetric telephony voice traffics.
