Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A feature of broadband WDM has been expected for high-speed networking. A WDM network is also expected as an infrastructure accommodating multiple protocols such as SDH, ATM and IP A restorative function in a WDM network may not be necessary for SDH while it is inevitable mostly for ATM or IP. This paper proposes new dimension methods in an MP/WDM (multi-protocols over WDM) network with static wavelength paths. The network has the following aspects; (1) limited to the near future, where the network uses costly OXCs (optical cross-connects) only to replace active paths into the corresponding spare paths when a fault occurs, and, (2) every active path does not produce a pair with a spare path since a restorative function may not be necessary for some kinds of upper layer protocols. By comparing the proposed methods with existing ones in a WDM network, we show that switching cost decreases sharply while transmission cost is almost the same.
