Lengthwise measurement of Optical Characteristics along the SM Fibers

Abstract(in English) Bidirectional OTDR methos is very useful to predict optical characteristics of the fiber. We report the results of MFDs (Mode Field Diameters), A_effs (nonlinear effective area), dispersions measurements by the bidirectional OTDR technique for 4 types of dispersion-shifted fibers. The fibers are used for WDM transmission line, and have different index profiles each other. The characteristics measured by OTDR were compared with the values by the conventional method.
