Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is developed for the analysis of metal-clad waveguide structures. The Berenger's perfectly matched layer (PML) as the absorbing boundary condition (ABC) is utilized to terminate the waveguide structures for FDTD simulation. Assuming that the metal being considered as the perfect conductor, the amplitudes of the guided modes propagating in the waveguides are extracted from the field distributions obtained from the FDTD simulation, by a least-squares method. As an example, a waveguide T-junction is analyzed and optimized by the FDTD method for TE case. The structures of and the electric-field distributions in the optimized T-junction are presented.
