Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A novel design methodology is proposed for ultrafast time-division demultiplexers (DEMUXs). The circuit consists of three stages : the retiming stage, the AND processing stage and the reshaping stage, None of them has any feedback, so the maximum speed of the circuit is not limited by the loopback delay, unlike the conventional transistor-based DEMUX. Each circuit is configured in a distributed fashion and operates by managing the induced propagation modes. Authors discuss the design concept, the circuit configuration, the principle of operation, an analytical estimation of circuit performance, and experimental characterization of AND processing stage using electro-optic sampling techniques.
