Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we describe how to apply a broadcast-and-select WDM system to our campus backbone LAN. In present broadcast-and-select WDM systems, there are some issues like a limitation of the number of users and a relatively long channel selecting time which may cause a delay time of data transportation. We proposed an architecture in which there is small limitation of the number of the users and a small delay time. In our architecture, a function for the layer between network layer and broadcast-and-select WDM system layer is given by ATM switches. A broadcast-and-select WDM system works as a path cross connect system with broad bandwidth.
