Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We proposed a new type of all-optical wavelength converter consisting of codirectionally-coupled semiconductor optical amplifiers, and predicted its characteristics through numerical simulation. We could confirm the improvement of output extinction ratio compared to that of input, which is one of the general features of interferometric cross-phase modulation wavelength converters, and could verify a unique characteristic of quasi-digital operation of our device. We developed a transfer matrix method(TMM)simulator in order to consider the spatial distribution of carrier density, gain, refractive index, propagation constants and coupling coefficients of SOAs.
