Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses the future targets and technologies for an optical fiber distribution system which is defined from indoor optical cables connecting with optical line terminals (OLTs) to fiber termination modules (FTMs) including fiber testing equipment in central offices toward the FTTH era. We show the system requirements and configuration with a new concept in order to realize a highly dense and compact optical fiber distributing system. We also describe new technologies such as compact indoor cables, a high-density FTM and intermediate FTM (IFTM) with highly integrated optical components, , an automated FTM with jumper robots, and a central office operation system.
