Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Time-division-multiplexed 640 and 320 Gbit/s signals have been successfully transmitted over 60 and 120 km, respectively. The data signal was generated by multiplexing a 10 Gbit/s femtosecond pulse train with a planar lightwave circuit. The femtosecond pulse train was generated by compressing output pulses from a fiber laser. The width of the data pulse was 400 fs and the second and third-order dispersions in the transmission fiber were fully compensated. A nonlinear optical loop mirror with a walk-off of less than ±100 fs was used to demultiplex the signal to 10 Gbit/s.
