Abstract(in English) In WDM, optical FDM based lightwave networks,gain peaking of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers(EDFAs),ASE noise accumulation and Four-wave mixing(FWM)crosstalk impose scalability of networks in geographical span.From the view point of the gain peaking and the FWM crosstalk,advantages of 0.98μm pumped EDFAs are described.Taki ng the ASE and FWM crosstalk accumulation into account,the level diagram is designed.128 channel - 480 km transmission experiment was demonstrated utilizing 0.98μm EDFA and a tunable gain equalize r.As a result,all channels were successfully transmitted with power penalty of less thari 1 dB.
