Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We discussed the application and required performance of an Nd- doped fiber amplifier at 1.06μm in multigigabit optical intersatel lite links(ISLs).We also report the realization of the Nd-doped fiber amplifier with a small signal gain of 27 dB.The Nd-doped fiber amplifier should be indispensable for optical ISL systems to improve modulation speed, output optical power, and receiver sensitivity,as a compact, ligh efficient, and polarization- independent amplifier at 1.064μm,instead of conventional solid-sta te laser amplifiers.
