Abstract(in English) The virtual optical fiber links have been proposed and constructed by the use of highly birefringent polarization maintaining fibcr to stablllzc the statc of polarization duning propagation and the introduction of fusion splices(up to 99 splices)to simulate stable modc coupling.Measurement of polarization-mode dispersion(PMD)and transmission expen′ment at 2. 5 Gbit, scc were conducted.It has been confirmed that PMD and system penalty van′cd invcrscly with νk and k,respectively,whcre k was the number of fiber segments to form cach fiber link.The constructed fiber links,which realized stable PMD with random mode coupling,enabled this characterization to be successfully conducted.
