Abstract(in English) We proposed a silica-rod micro-lens with perpendicular curvatures for watt-class high power LD beam coupling to a single mode fiber. This lens allows us to make a round shape image, and also fiber coupling, from a beam which has large aspect ratio with simple and compact configuration. We obtained optimum curvatures and length of the lens by ray-matrix calculation. We also fabricated the lens and evaluated its collimating and coupling performances.
