Generation and Manipulation of Ultrafast Light Pulses with Semiconductor Diode Lasers

Abstract(in English) This article describes recent technical trends of mode-locked semiconductor diode lasers. We first discuss the generation and the stabilization of ultrashort light pulses. Also described is the aspects of optical functional devices for manipulating ultrashort light pulses. Finally, we show the possibility of some novel applications of mode-locked semiconductor diode lasers in the technological areas except for the ultrafast optical communication.
