Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the Resonator Fiber Optic Gyro (R-FOG), closed loop operation, in which the resonance-frequency change caused by input rotation is fed back to the input light wave frequency, is necessary for high grade applications. Frequency shifters, such as an Acoustic-Optical Modulator (AOM), have been used for the feedback. However, it is not ideal device because of the bulky shape. On the other hand, serrodyne phase modulation can also be used for the frequency shit. However it is difficult to control the shape of the analog serrodyne wave form with a high accuracy. In this report, we propose a null method for R-FOG, the Digital serrodyne method, in which the light wave phase by digital phase ramp, and report the result of theoretical studies and basic experiments.
