Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have demonstrated an optical booster amplifier and optical preamplifier, employing an Nd-doped fiber amplifier (NDFA) at 1.06μm, which is applicable to various systems such as lidar, fiber sensing and free-space laser communications. 200mW bi-directional pumping is adopted in the booster amplifier. When an Nd-doped fiber ring laser is used as a signal light source at the gain peak wavelength of 1.062μm, 50dB gain and 100mW output power (at 20dB gain) are attained. We have also demonstrated the optical preamplifier with a 50mW counter-directional pumping at 1.064μm in 1.4Gbit/s optical intensity modulation. A remarkable receiver sensitivity improvement is clarified by the NDFA optical preamplifier.
