Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Bidirectional SCM transmission systems using 1.53-umand 1.55-um wavelength bands for each direction are proposed. The signal lights of these two bands are coupled and separated by wavelength selective couplers. It is experimentally confirmed that transmission length is enlarged by using bidirectional optical amplifiers having a bridge structure. An interference caused by leakage of the transmitted signal to the receiver through the coupler is eliminated because of the different subcarrier frequencies for each channel. Optical line losses corresponding to the weighted SN of 42 dB were 55 dB for the two-node system with two bidirectional terminal EDFA's, and 50 dB for the four-nodes system with a single bidirectional repeater-EDFA.
