Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical polarization modulation is a method of communication that employs a change in polarization of lightwaves propagating in optical fibers by imposing stress from outside for input of information. Since the modulator is mainly made of an optical fiber, pertaining insertion loss is very small and it enables a multi-point information gathering system with a single fiber. In addition, as the system requires only one lightwage source, low cost and high reliability can be expected. This paper describes a study on carrier to noise ratio of this method, system design & prototype model of a multi-point video gathering system and its field test started at Shin-Haruna substation of Tokyo Electric Power Co.
