Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the practical use of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers(EDFAs) for video distribution system on optical access networks has been investigated. For the video distribution systems, video signal are current video signals of AM as well as digital carrier modulated signal of QAM for the purpose of a few hundreds channels. As noise and distortion characteristics of the EDFA for the systems is degraded by the reflections and/or polarization dependency of the optical components. In the real system, EDFA is required low power consumption. In this paper, we examine the noise and distortion characteristics of EDFA, clarifying the parameters for the AM video transmission systems.
