| Abstract(in English) | Although optical communication technologies are still immature, many aspects need timely standardization to permit wide implementation of cost-effective, multivender-compatible systems. The standardization discussions started an IEC/TC86 in 1991 mainly on the test methods of optical fiber amplifiers, and then an ITU-T/SG15 on SDH-based single-channel and multi-channel systems. Several new ITU recommendations and IEC publications are now emerging, although quite a few issues need further discussions. This paper overviews relevant intemational standardization activities. |
