Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Although ATM is expected to serve as an information transfer technology for the integration of services ranging from low-speed to high-speed data transmissions, it is said that STM-based access subscriber lines will certainly continue to exist, and Access Networks will be developing as an infrastruchure responding to a wide variety of user demands in a STM/ATM mixed environment. This paper proposes an example of access system configurations which accommodates mixed ATM/STM subscriber lines by using a flexible and cost-efficient method and transfers the mixed ATM/STM informations to service nodes efficiently. To be more concrete, dummy headers are added to each set of STM informations in order to integrate them into ATM cel1 information streams and realize separation/combination of STM/ATM informations at the 1ayer 1 level. By adding this simple process of conversion it is realized that little influence is made to existing service nodes, and a simple/cost-efficient access system is also achieved.
