Abstract(in English) In ultrahigh speed optical transmission systems of more than l00 GbiVs, the effect of the dispersion slope (third order dispersion) created in the fiber is one of the major factors limiting the transmission distance. However, it is difficult to equalize the slope of dispersion shifted fiber (DSF) directly. In this manuscript, we report a DSF dispersion slope equalizer which employs a lattice-form programmable optical filter on a planar light wave circuit (PLC). The performance of the equalizer is evaluated numerically. We confirm experimentally that this equalizer is effective in reducing the pulse waveform deterioration caused by the dispersion slope. In addition, the equalizer improves the power penalty of a 200 Gbit/s, 100 km, TDM optical transmission experiment.
