Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Equipment practice for B-ISDN requires high-throughput, many I/0s, and many kinds of interfaces. And equipment having many I/O interfaces also requires a redundant line to maintain the reliability of the signal connection. From these equipment practice viewpoints, we studied and proposed a new equipment practice called mid-plane packaging, which is effective for packaging many I/O interfaces of various kinds. This equipment practice was designed by considering function blocks of signal processing, such as common functions and specific functions, and separates each function. This paper explains the advantages of mid-plane packaging from the view points of signal wiring implementation, and presents some fundamental technical issues for applying it to equipment.
