Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an effective bandwidth management scheme for virtual path connections (VPCs) which overcomes the issue of loss of bandwidth due to dividing to multiple VPCs in the ATM-based subscriber access networks. This scheme groups several VPCs with the same QoS and the same route as the Multiple-Traffic/QoS-class-VPCs (MVPC). In this scheme, one VPC for one class is divided to a fixed bandwidth VPC (Class-VPC) and a variable bandwidth VPC (Class-Sub-VPC). Each Class-Sub-VPC shares a common bandwidth. Each bandwidth for each Class-Sub-VPC is dynamical1y assigned to meet its demand. As a result, the proposed scheme can reduce the complexity of control required for the bandwidth managements, compuing to the conventional scheme. In this paper we propose four types of bandwidth managements, taking into account of the way to establish or release the virtual channel connections (VCCs) in each VPCs. We evaluate the required amount of bandwidth and control processing for each type.
