Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigate WDM broadcast&select network systems using optical WDM and electrical multiplexing technologies. In this paper, we study limitations of WDM, channel availability, and channel bandwidth which determine the system throughput and available users. We also propose a wavelength-synchronized system using arrayed waveguide graiting filters with wavelength monitor ports for performance improvement. Because an arrayed waveguide grating filter act as both a laser wavelength detuning detector and an optical filter, this system can precisely syrlchronize wavelength between remote stations comparing with conventional individual temperature control. Throughput and available users using this wavelength-synchronized system are 2.6 Tbit/s and 130000 for WDM/TDM, and 320 Gbit/s and 16000 for WDM/SCM.
