Abstract(in English) | An optical buffer is one of the most important technologies for photonic ATM switch which is a potential next generation switching system. We have developed a prototype optical buffer memory with semiconductor opticaI amplifiers (SOAs) and fiber delay lines. It has been evaluated using 10 Gb/s-6 4bytes optical cel1s, then it showed the loss variation is less than 2.5 dB, the switching time is under 2.0 ns, and the BER is less than 10^<-12>. It also has been confirmed to operate for 8 hours stably. |
