Abstract(in English) A new type of optical waveguide Y-branch is proposed, having the advantages of low branching loss, compact size, simple structure and easy fabrication. Two dimensional model for the branch under single mode operation is assumed. The propagation behavior of the light beam is analyzed by the finite difference beam propagation method with transparent boundary condition, and numerical loss calculations are carried out. The structure to achieve a loss minimum is found by the optimization method. As a result, it is shown that the branching loss is less than 0.074 dB for the branching angles 1°~2.5°.
