Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fourier series expansion technique for the analysis of optical waveguide, which is assumed to have artificial periodic structure along the transverse direction, supplies us the propagation constants as a solution of eigenvalue problem. We have developed the propagation constants of an optical waveguide including lossy material layers to absorb the radiation wave at the artificial periodic boundaries. Numerical results shows that the lower modes are stable for the exsistance of lossy materials while higher ones are sensitive to the loss.
