Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we report a novel configuration of optical ring-resonator gyro utilizing Silica Planar Lighwave Circuit with countermeasures for noise factors. Optical ring-resonator gyros suffer mainly from backscattering induced noise and polarization fluctuation induced noise. We adopt binary phase shift keying as a countermeasure for backscattering induced noise. Thermo-Optic (TO) phase modulation is the only one scheme available in silica waveguide, whose bandwidth is limited to ~1KHz. To utilize the narrow bandwidth of the TO modulator, we propose an electrical signal processing method. We demonstrate the suppresion of the backscattering induced noise as around 15dB. Additionaly the gyro output is observed when applying an equivalent rotation. |
