Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The transient response characteristics of integrated optical waveguide amplifiers are numerically analyzed. The time dependent three-level laser rate equations are solved numerically using forward difference method. Steady state response of the Er doped Garnet crystal waveguide amplifiers have been analyzed in order to optimize the gain characteristics, which are further used in the dynamic response analysis. Experimentally determined parameters such as waveguide loss, absorption and emission cross-sections have been used for the simulations. Gain dynamics of the medium were studied when the input signal to the amplifier is square modulated. Input signal pulse duration longer than a few msec is observed to be compressed after amplification. Input signal pulse width of the order of nano- and pico-second experiences no change in the pulse shape upon amplification.
