Abstract(in English) | An 8-channel array optical data link with a throughput of 1.1Gbps/ch has been developed for intra-and inter-cabinet interconnection in massively parallel computers and large-scale ATM switching systems. The optical data link has been packaged in a volume of 2.2cc for a transmitter module and a receiver module respectively, employing a newly developed an 8-channel LD driver IC, a DC coupled AC receiver IC and passive alignment optical assembly techniques. The authors estimated relations between a tolerable channel skew and a required bandwidth for a receiver. The results shows that their receiver system, an AC receiver combining with a deskewer can utilize a receiver bandwidth more effectively than others', such as an DC receiver without a deskewer. An asynchronous transmission was successfully demonstrated for over 300m, employing the optical link and multi-mode-fibers with 200MHz・km, bandwidth. |
