Abstract(in English) In multi-channel cable transmission systems, non-linearity of a laser diode or an amplifier causes a number of intermodulation(IM) distortions. This study provides the evidence that the amplitude distribution of IM distortions from digital carriers differs from Gaussian distribution. Experimental results show that the amplitude distributions vary according to the frequency allocation of measured channel and modulation scheme of the other channels. A relationship between amplitude distributions of IM distortions and BER performance of a digital signal on cable transmission is also evaluated.
