Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The influence on the gain control accuracies in the gain-constant control mode of the erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, which are used in wavelengh division multiplexing systems, is qualitatively clarified in the case of the gain. constant control by detecting the spontaneous emission. The gain deviation from the case of the homogeneous gain-saturation has been increased with the signal light power, which causes the gain-saturation. Moreover, the gain deviation has shown a spectral hole characteristic with a hole-width of about 10 nm, and become large in the wavelengths near 1530 nm. For example, the gain-accuracy under the conditions, in which the total input signal power was less than -10 dBm and the signal wavelengths were from 1540 to 1560 nm, was ±0.2 dB in the case of two-wavelength signal light input where the case gives largest gain deviation.
