Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The plastic optical fibers (POFs) are attractive for the transmission media of cost-reduced optical links and it has already been reported that a graded-index (GI) type POF using poly-methylmethacrylate (PMMA) can transmit signals at 2.5 Gb/s over 100 m at around 0.65 μm. We have investigated the gigabit-per-second transmission availability in the 1.3-μm wavelength band by using the perfluorinated GI-POF with a low-loss wavelength region ranging from 0.6 to 1.3 μm. It was confirmed that a 70-dB/km-loss sample can transmit 2.5-Gb/s NRZ signals over 200 m. |
