Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A transparent optical multichannel switch employing liquid-crystal light modulator arrays along with birefringent crystals (calcites) was proposed. The high parallelism and low power dissipation are the advantages for the liquid-crystal devices to apply them to optical switches. The method to fabricate optical collimator arrays suitable for the switch structure was also discussed. Finally, an 8×8-channel crossbar-type optical switch was assembled using the collimator arrays, and stable loss and high optical isolation property among optical channels was confirmed. |
