The Haar-Wavelet Transform Chip Performs Picture Analysis on a Partial Selection Target

Abstract(in English) An Haar wavelet transform chip is designed to compress images in a way of multi-resolution before recognition programs, including some functions of template matching. The chip performs selective image compression on the each domain with the different but suitable resolution level. It is specified for each domain by the recognition program. As the massive data compression proceeds by the chip, extraction of suitable features will become so fast up to the level where the recognition can be done easily. The chip implemented on a FPGA, will run 20times faster than an Haar transform program on a processor (600MHz, 128K, cache).
