Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A 3-D visual systems based on stereoscopic video are expected to become an attractive application in the near future. In order to transmit a pair of stereo sequences efficiently, the MPEG2 multiview profile utilizes a bi-directional prediction technique where Motion Compensation (MC) and Disparity Compensation (DC) are adaptively switched in each macro-block. This paper propose a novel MC/DC switching method for variable-size-block-based warping prediction. Simulation results indicate that a predicted image of the proposed scheme has better quality without blocking artifacts and shows higher SNR than that of the conventional scheme.
